This position serves as a Program Support Assistant for the Division of Logistics Services (DLS), Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations (OLAO), Office of Acquisition and Logistics Management (OALM), Office of Management (OM), Office of the Director (OD).DLS serves as the central liaison for logistics functions at the NIH. The DLS Mission manages all aspects of supply chain management property administration, and transportation management programs. Please visit the DLS Website.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct administrative, procedural, and informational resource assistance and support to program staff and/or managers by organizing, collecting, analyzing, and presenting information.
  • Develops and maintains an effective correspondence routing and tracking system to improve information flow and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Processes and tracks incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other written communications.
  • Independently maintains the supervisor's appointment calendars and work schedules, using knowledge of prior commitments.
  • Makes all arrangements for meetings and conferences, including space, time, participants, and agenda.

  • Qualifications

    To qualify for the GS-6:You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: assisting with the coordination of program workflow and the coordination of various duties assigned to organization staff; receiving and reviewing incoming correspondence and determining which staff member should handle the action; scheduling various meetings and following up on assigned actions; and preparing correspondence, reports, graphs/charts, forms, and other office support materials using office automation equipment and appropriate software. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
