The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the network protection-specialist in the Base Network Control Center (BNCC), responsible for installing, analyzing and monitoring network information protection defensive measures to ensure the availability, integrity, and reliability of base classified and unclassified network.

Responsibilities

  • Performs network intrusion detection and nehvork vulnerability assessment activities. Uses standard automated security tools, to deter, detect, isolate network intrusions, and recover compromised systems after attack
  • Performs base network boundary protection operations. Installs, configures and maintains the Base Information Protection (BIP) suite.
  • Implements all current network security tools and patches across internal base systems to fix existing vulnerabilities. Maintains daily contact with the Air Force Computer Emergency Response Team (AFCERT).
  • Performs duties as the Computer Systems Security Officer (CSSO) for the BNCC to include the certification and accreditation (C and A) on all BNCC computers and practices.
  • Provides proactive and reactive management of C4I resources by monitoring and controlling the network. available bandwidth, hardware, and distributed software resources.
  • Supports the wing program manager for information assurance/operations security with the administration of the COMPUSEC, COMSEC, and Information Assurance (IA) Training programs.
