Job Details
Oversees all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures covering the security of and access to our Healthcare Systems data assets encompassing systems such as clinical and financial. Ensure compliance with Federal and state laws and the healthcare organization’s information security policies and practices.
Provides development guidance and assists in the identification, implementation and maintenance of the organization’s information security policies and procedures in coordination with organization management and administration and legal counsel.
Serves in a leadership role for regulatory compliance such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HIPAA and HITECH Act) security compliance activities including implementing, managing and enforcing information security directives as mandated by regulatory requirements.
Performs initial and periodic information security risk assessments and conducts related ongoing compliance monitoring activities in coordination with the organization’s other compliance and operational assessment functions.
Ensures compliance with security practices and consistent application of sanctions for failure to comply with security policies for all individuals in the organization’s workforce, extended workforce, and for all business associates, in cooperation with Human Resources, the information security officer, administration, and legal counsel as applicable.
Establishes and administers a process for receiving, documenting, tracking, investigating, and taking action on all complaints concerning the organization’s security policies and procedures in coordination and collaboration with other similar functions and, when necessary, legal counsel.
Initiates, facilities and promotes activities to foster information security awareness within the organization and related entities.
Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness, systems flexibility, and security value.
Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
Engage and interface with other Information Technology staff, vendors, and SVMHS staff in development of enterprise network/system architecture.
Contributes to the development and continual improvement of the change management process.
Monitors common and individual work queues. Completes or escalates incidents and service requests in a timely fashion. Provides escalation assistance to all IT team members.
Promotes specialized skills and knowledge through support, training and development of staff members.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in computer sciences or related field.
Licensure: GIAC – Global Information Assurance Certification or CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional required. Vendor and technology specific certifications are also preferred where applicable.
Experience: At least four (4) years’ experience in a similar job role for a mid to large organization. Preferably in healthcare. Demonstrated experience in the deployment and management of IT security technologies such as firewall, virtual private networks, intrusion detection solutions, secure access, mobile device management and wireless network security. In-depth experience in the following practice areas:
Technical Security Risk Assessment Methodology
Intrusion Analysis
Incident Response Methodology
Network Design & hardening
Working knowledge of project management functions.
